He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God. The anointing is not a rank you have failed to reach. It is the oil that is already in the reservoir of your specific work. The Holy Spirit is not waiting for you to move to the front. He is working in the position you currently occupy.

The screen is not a lesser part of the lamp. It is the part that makes the light possible in a windy room. If the screen were removed, the flame would not burn brighter. It would be extinguished. The work of holding the line against the draft is not training for a later, more important role. It is the role. The assignment is not a rehearsal for the real thing. You were ordained for this before you formed in the womb. Jeremiah 1:5 says that before the formation, the knowing and the ordaining happened. The assignment was not assigned based on your performance in a previous role. It was assigned based on His knowledge of you. You are not a substitute. You are the one sent to hold the screen. The Holy Spirit is with you in that holding. He is not with the speaker in a way that excludes you. He is with you in a way that enables you. The supply is matched to the specific need of the post. The visible and the invisible are both parts of the same body of the work. The speaker needs the light. The light needs the screen. The screen needs the hand. The hand needs the supply. The anointing is not a hierarchy. It is a system of supply. Every part is essential. If one part fails, the light goes out. You are not below the speaker. You are beside the lamp. Your work is not less holy because it is not seen. It is more critical because it is hidden. The Holy Spirit sees the hand that holds the screen. He honors the labor that keeps the flame alive. His word says that the anointing is not a badge of honor for the loud. It is the oil for the steady.

You have the Spirit of the Lord upon you for this work. Isaiah 61:1 says that the Spirit is upon the one anointed for the task. You are the one who holds the line. The light burns because of you. The debate continues because of you. The room is warm because of you. The anointing is not a title you wear. It is the oil that keeps you from freezing. The Holy Spirit is the one who keeps the flame alive. He is not working through the speaker to you. He is working through you to the speaker. The flow of the anointing is not from the front to the back. It is from God to the specific post. You are the post. The supply is yours. The work is yours. The light is yours to keep. His word says the Spirit of the Lord is upon you because He has anointed you.

The anointing is not a level left unattained. It is the equipping already in hand. The vessel is not empty. The vessel is equipped. The Holy Spirit has provided the wisdom to hold, the understanding to wait, and the knowledge to stand. Exodus 31:3 speaks of the filling for the workmanship. The workmanship is the holding of the screen. The filling is the strength to hold it. The position is not a draft. It is the shelter. The anointing is the oil that makes the shelter effective. The work is done not by the loudest voice, but by the steadiest hand. The light is alive. The work is complete in this moment.
